The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions says the state will add 800 education jobs this year. This despite the fact that The University of New Mexico has instituted a hiring freeze and cut its budget. New Mexico now has 55,452 education jobs, which DWS expects to grow to 56,301 in 2009. Federal Way, Washington-based forest products manufacturer Weyerhaeuser will indefinitely close four mills and permanently close five service centers, affecting about 480 jobs.
