The Durham, North Carolina City Council will vote on a new budget that would eliminate 35 municipal workers. Seventy-eight vacant positions would also be cut. National Public Radio will lay off 13 employees. JM Family Enterprises, one of the nation’s largest Toyota distributors, will cut 500 jobs, or 11% of its work force.
