Positions being filled are in road maintenance, i.e. snow and ice removal, and are high-paying, the Department of Transportation told the Associated Press. Candidate will need to apply, take a test and have an interview. Applications are available online at www.cms.illinois.gov.

There are additional fairs slates this month for Chicago, Maywood and East St. Louis.

The temporary positions will last from April to August. Ryla, which will serve as a subcontractor to IBM partner Teletech, will host a job fair Feb. 28 at the Cobb Galleria from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Through the American Recovery Act, the SRS is receiving $1.6 billion in stimulus dollars for job creation.

Over 8,000 people have applied for jobs with Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, and 600 have been hired to date.

SRS will hold more job fairs, but details have been released.

The Savannah River Site is a nuclear materials processing center in the state of South Carolina, located on land in Aiken Allendale and Barnwell Counties adjacent to the Savannah River, 25 miles from Augusta, Georgia. The site was built during the 1950s to refine nuclear materials for deployment in nuclear weapons.

The firms participating include AT&T, BP Solar International, Frederick Community College, Hagerstown Community College, Giant Food, the FBI, the Frederick Police Department and Lonza.

The fair will be held from 11am to 4pm Thursday at the Frederick Church of the Brethren in Frederick.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is one of the oldest and most influential civil rights organizations in the United States.

On Wednesday, more than 1,200 job seekers lined up to apply for 700 jobs. The city is not sure if it will hold another job fair this year.

Roanoke is an independent city located in the Roanoke Metropolitan Area in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The city of Roanoke is adjacent to the city of Salem and the town of Vinton, and is otherwise surrounded by, but politically separate from, Roanoke County. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 94,911.

Thousands of new employees will be put to work to reduce the site’s environmental footprint, and accelerating the completion of planned projects. A majority of the jobs are temporary, providing work for 30 months.

A job fair will be held in Allendale, South Carolina on June 24th.

The 2,658-bed prison will open in late July. The inmates will be minimum-security federal prisoners, most illegal immigrants.

Corrections Corporation of America manages public prisons and detention centers, and has concessions for many others. The company is the largest private corrections company in the US, managing more than 60 facilities with a designed capacity of 85,000 beds.

Both teenagers and financially-strapped adults applied for the positions. In-N-Out is known for paying some of the highest wages in the fast food industry.

In-N-Out Burger was founded in 1948 by Harry Snyder and his wife Esther. The chain has since expanded outside Southern California to the rest of the state, and to Arizona, Nevada, and southern Utah. In-N-Out has never franchised, and plans to remain privately owned.

The company’s business practices have been noted for employee-centric personnel policies. For example, In-N-Out is one of the few fast food chains in the United States to pay its employees significantly more than state and federally-mandated minimum wage guidelines – starting at $10 per hour in California, as of January 2008.

The fairs target job seekers for positions at bioscience businesses and research organizations in the state. The free events are expected to draw more than 400 people this year.

Various companies and organizations have signed on to appear. Exhibitors set for the Columbus fair include Nationwide Children’s Hospital, PharmaForce and Battelle.

Companies will be looking for candidates in medical research, manufacturing, biomedical engineering, study management, toxicology and biochemistry.

The jobs are part of the city’s Summer Youth Employment Initiative. The initiative employs people ages 16 to 24 in six different programs, through the Cincinnati Parks Department, the Cincinnati Recreation Commission, ArtWorks, and the Cincinnati Hamilton County Community Action Agency.

The fair will take place at the Duke Energy Convention Center from 2 to 6 pm.

The jobs are for parks, rec centers, outdoor maintenance, artist murals and community-based organizations.
