Governator Announces Youth Jobs Program

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is spending $10 million in federal stimulus cash on programs to place 1,000 at-risk youth, aged 16 to 24, into green jobs over the next 20 months. California Unemployment Highest Since 1941

California’s unemployment rate skyrocketed to 11.2% in March, the highest since before World War II. The national rate was 8.5%. Silicon Valley Unemployment Rate Hits 11%

California’s Silicon Valley, the nation’s information technology mecca, saw its unemployment rate hit 11% in March, nearly doubling in one year. The nation’s unemployment rate is 8.5 percent.
