The chain is increasing its total stores in California to 121. The new locations include Cypress, Downey, Los Angeles, Monrovia, Tustin, Upland and Whittier.

Jobs fairs for the news stores will be held August 9th to 13th.

Thirty-one of the positions are part of a marketing, advertising, production, and creative services reorganization. The majority of the marketing-related positions are in Dallas, Texas.

In return, Macy’s would add 175 corporate jobs downtown. However, the store chain expects to cut 50 HQ jobs as a result of consolidation.

Macy’s operates almost 850 department stores.

Finley sells to 674 department stores like Bloomingdales and retailers like Bailey, Banks & Bittle.

The firm is moving to Greensboro, North Carolina, leaving all 170 employees at its Connecticut distribution center out of a job.

In a letter to employees, Finlay says some people will lose their jobs at the end of April. Workers were told others will stay until September at the latest.

The company is ending its relationship with all department stores and will concentrate on specialty retailers only. That shrinks its client base from close to 700 stores to about 70.

Last year alone, shares of the company lost 97% of their value.

The company needs to staff its new Royal Palm Beach store, and nearly 150 jobs are up for grabs.

The Sunshine State’s unemployment rate is 8.1%.

Governor Charlie Crist made a stop at the Workforce Alliance in West Palm Beach on Friday to talk with and encourage those who are unemployed.

Workforce Alliance sees about 4,000 job seekers a month, a 7% increase from last year.

The job fair runs through next Thursday.

Officials said the 150 jobs are part-time, non-management positions. So far 1,000 people have already been scheduled for appointments.
