Airlines Cut Tens of Thousands of Jobs

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics reports that airlines lost 6.6% of jobs since February, 2008. It’s the eighth straight year of US airline job loss. Only Southwest Airlines and JetBlue Airlines increased their overall workforce since February 2008. Delta/Northwest now employs 73,100, down 4,800 from last year. Delta Air Lines is extending the deadline of its employee buyout offer as it moves to cut 2,000 jobs. The deadline was to be January 31st, but Delta is extending the option period to February 11th. Delta Guarantees 10,000 Aviation Jobs for Minnesota

Delta Air Lines will commit to keeping jobs at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport.
