3M Laying off 40 Engineers

3M is laying off 40 workers from its engineering division. Most of those affected work at the firm’s Maplewood, Minnesota headquarters. 3M is also closing a hearing- and eye-protection products plant in Southbridge, Massachusetts, cutting 200 employees. Kentucky Wooing Battery Plant, 2,000 Jobs

Kentucky officials and The National Alliance for Advanced Transportation Batteries are working to bring a $600 million manufacturing campus to Hardin County. 3M Slashing Global Headcount by 1,200

3M is cutting its worldwide work force by another 1,200 jobs, or 1.5%. Fewer than half the jobs eliminated will be in the US, and will include several hundred in Minnesota at the company’s Maplewood headquarters.
