Auto-parts manufacturer SL America is embarking on a $35 million expansion to its facility in Clinton, Tn. that will result in 300 new jobs.
SL Corp. is based in South Korea and has three facilities in North America. It currently operates a 164,000 square foot plant in Clinton, which will be expanded by 100,000 square feet. The facility, which opened in 2001, makes parts for General Motors, Hyundai, KMG and Volkswagen.
The expansion comes after Volkswagen awarded a contract to produce automatic gear shifters for a new mid-size sedan that will begin production in 2011.
