Schneider National Inc. said Monday it plans to hire 2,500 new regional drivers this year. Drivers will provide short-haul services to Schneider customers in the West, Southwest, Midwest, Southeast and Northeast.
The largest privately-held trucking company in the U.S., Schneider said strong demand for its regional service has led the company to ramp up its expansion plans. Additions will be made throughout the year with all 2,500 drivers in place by December, Business Journal reports.
Drivers will also be allowed time at home each week, the company said.
“Work-life balance is more important than ever to today’s professional truck driver,” said Mike Hinz, vice president, Schneider National. “Schneider’s regional driving opportunities are a perfect fit for those drivers who want to make a good living with a company that will be here tomorrow, and at the same time, enjoy more time at home with their families.”
