massachusettsflag_160x120About 150 jobs are expected to be cut as the result of Ames Safety Envelope Co. being acquired by Tab Products Co. Ames Safety was founded in Somerville, Mass. in 1919.

After the sales expected closure next month, Tab plans to move production of Ames products to its facility in Wisconsin.

“Regretfully, most Somerville factory positions will be terminated during the six- to nine-month transition,” said a press release issued by Ames. “This will result in the loss of approximately 150 jobs.”

Around 30 people from the Ames sales team will continue as employees of Tab. Tab’s human resources department will also assist terminated employees in finding new positions.
