Illinois School District Axes 135 Workers, Including 75 Teachers

maine townshipMaine Township High School District 207 in Illinois is eliminating 135 jobs. The action was approved unanimously by the school board Monday night.

Maine Township will save $15 million with the action. They are trying to close a $19-million budget deficit, the Daily Herald reports. The cuts include 75 teaching positions, though the board did agree to another round of negotiations that could result in 45 jobs being saved.
