Diebold Inc. is cutting 250 jobs at its Green, Ohio corporate campus. Diebold has 1,900 employees at the headquarters and nearby facilities. The company has 16,000 employees worldwide. According to CEO Thomas Swidarski, the job cuts were made to reduce costs and are not “short term reductions”. In total 350 jobs, or 4% of Diebold’s workforce, will be eliminated.
Diebold manufactures ATM’s and also sells security products. It is increasingly emphasizing service over manufacturing. Diebold reported it earned $7.9 million on revenue of $724.9 million in the fourth quarter. Net income was down 55% from a year ago, while revenue was down 8% from the fourth quarter of 2008.
