UPSUPS announced today that it was cutting 1800 jobs nationwide as it reduces the number of districts and regions involved in its small package delivery service. By taking advantage of technological advances and consolidating operations, approximately 1800 management positions will be made obsolete. UPS says that about 1100 employees will be offered voluntary separation packages and normal attrition will make up the rest of the job cuts.

UPS has some 425,000 employees world wide and is the worlds largest package delivery service.
