According to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development the unemployment rate in the Milwaukee area rose to 8.4 percent in November from 8.2 percent in October.
Milwaukee was one of six of the state’s 12 metropolitan statistical areas to see higher month-over-month unemployment rates. Jobless rates had remained flat in four areas and declined in two others.
The Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman claims that they are committed to improving Milwaukee’s job market by connecting job seekers and employers. However, the Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis metro area lost 3,600 jobs over the month.
