The city of Las Vegas is asking its employees to take an 8% pay cut for the next to years or risk wide spread layoffs. 90% of city employees are represented by four unions, who have received a letter from the City Manager asking them accept the pay cuts along with the elimination of COLA raises. The pay cuts are necessary according to the city to help plug an anticipated $69 million shortfall in next year’s operating budget.
