Chrysler Expanding Michigan Plant, Adding Jobs

chryslerusethis_160x120Chrysler is investing $179 million into a plant in Dundee, Michigan, to manufacture engines for the Fiat 500 minicar. The expansion will bring 155new jobs and create an additional 418 indirect jobs with suppliers and other support businesses. Production of the new engines will begin 4th quarter of 2010, the company says. As part of the deal to build the engines there, Chyrsler is receiving a $4.6 million tax credit from Michigan over the next 10 years, and $600,000 abatement from Dundee.
