Binions Closing Hotel in Las Vegas, 100 Jobs Cut

vegas_160x120Binion’s Hotel and Casino, formerly known as the Horseshoe, is shutting down its hotel in downtown Las Vegas. The casino and restaurants will remain open. 100 employees will lose their job when the hotel ceases operations beginning on December 14th. The company cited the economic decline as the reason for the decision, but the opening of the new CityCenter and its several thousand new hotel rooms might also have played a role. With discretionary income down and the total number of rooms up, something had to give.
