GI Jobs Magazine surveyed companies with annual revenues of over $500 million and graded them on areas important to military veterans, including outreach/recruitment programs and National Guard/Reserves policies. Four of the top ten picks were Class 1 freight railroads, with Union Pacific coming out on top.
In a statement from Barb Schaefer, the UP vice president of human resources, the company said, “Union Pacific values the commitment, training and diversity that our Armed Forces bring to the workplace. Our continued efforts to attract veterans have resulted in a win-win situation for the company and the veterans we have hired”.
