Adidas, which supplies game day jerseys for the NBA and some NFL teams, has cancelled it’s contract with New York’s American Classic Outfitters. Adidas is the sole client for the company, which employs 100 people. The move comes in the middle of a multi year contract and after American Classic Outfitters invested over $1 million into its facility to accommodate Adidas’ business.
Senator Chuck Schumer of New York has made a personal pitch to Adidas to keep the jobs in the United States. If Adiddas moves ahead with its plan, it will be the first time NBA uniforms have been made overseas.
