In early September, Valero Energy announced it was cutting 150 jobs at its Delaware refinery. The company, which has been hit hard by the recession, is eliminating 100 jobs at it’s facility in Paulsboro, New Jersey. No layoffs are anticipated; the company hopes to eliminate enough jobs through retirement incentives to avoid having to give anyone the pink slip.
Valero is a Fortune 500 company based in San Antonio, Texas. It owns 18 refineries and has an extensive retail gasoline operation.
