Premier Inc., a health care purchasing and data company, is moving its headquarters from San Diego to Charlotte and bringing 300 jobs with it. 750 of the company’s 1250 employees are already working in Charlotte, which is one of the reasons given for the transition. The company has not provided any details on the employees who are currently working in San Diego. The new jobs will pay an average of $69,400 per year, well above the local average of $49,400.
North Carolina has been aggressively pursuing businesses to relocate there, and is providing tax incentives for Premier. So long as the company meets certain benchmarks, it will receive a grant equal to 60% of the witholding tax generated by the new jobs.
