Peabody Energy is closing down a surface coal mine in Indiana, which will affect 80 jobs. The mine has depleted its resources, the company says. The 80 employees of the mine may be able to find other jobs with the company which has 4 other coal mines in Indiana, including an underground mine and coal preparation facility nearby.
Peabody Energy is headquartered in Missouri and is the world’s largest private sector coal company.
