Harley Davidson Closing Plant in Wisconsin, 180 Jobs Cut

harleydavidson_300x225Harley Davidsonis closing a plant in East Troy, Wisconsin, that employs 180 workers. The plant produces Buell motorcycles, a line of “rocket style” bikes Harley purchased a year ago from Italian company MV Augusta. The line has not been profitable and facing a steep earnings decline, Harley Davidson has announced that it is returning to its roots. The company is trying to find a buy for the Buell brand. In the mean time, East Troy, population 4500, is trying to secure government assistance in retraining the 180 employees that will lose their jobs when the plant closes mid December.
