buffalonewyork_160x120The John R. Oishei Foundation is giving a $100,000 two-year grant to Goodwill Industries of Western New York, to support the Parks Careers Pathways Collaboration. The program offer training and career exploration opportunities at Olmsted Parks in Buffalo, New York.

The program is a collaboration between Goodwill Industries, the Buffalo City Mission and the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy. In this coming year, the program will provide hands-on job training to 120 unemployed adults. Participants get eight weeks of training in landscape construction and maintenance, tree planting, plant and turf installation, equipment operation & maintenance, and facility maintenance.

Program graduates will get job placement aid.
