sun_160x120Sun Microsystems will eliminate 12 jobs in Alabama as part of a national restructuring plan.

The manufacturer or hardware and software is cutting nine jobs in Birmingham, two in Huntsville and one in Mobile.

Sun recently laid off 18 employees at its Phoenix, Arizona location.

Sun Microsystems is a multinational vendor of computers, computer components, computer software, and information technology services, founded in 1982. It employs over 33,000 worldwide.
