Paul Reed Smith Guitars Will Lay Off 30, Cut Hours

prsguitars_160x120Paul Reed Smith Guitars will lay off 30 employees, go to a four-day manufacturing week, and end its nighttime manufacturing shift.

After the cuts, the firm will employ 250.

PRS recently completed expanding its Maryland factory to produce acoustic guitars and amplifiers. It got a $10 million bond from the Maryland Department of Business & Economic Development. The bond was to guarantee 60 new employees.

PRS Guitars is an American guitar manufacturer headquartered in Stevensville, Maryland. It was founded by guitarist and luthier Paul Reed Smith in 1985. PRS guitars have become highly prized by musicians and collectors around the world.
