The Cincinnati Enquirer, that city’s only daily newspaper, has informed its employees that 100 people will be laid off next week.
The paper’s parent company, Gannett, is in the midst of eliminating 1,400 jobs.
Founded in 1840, The Cincinnati Enquirer is the highest-circulation print publication in Greater Cincinnati, Ohio and Northern Kentucky. Its circulation is 206,320 daily and 290,500 on Sundays.
Gannett is a publicly-traded media holding company, and the largest US newspaper publisher as measured by total daily circulation. Its assets include the national newspaper USA Today and the weekly USA Weekend.
