Synovus to Cut 650 Georgia Jobs

Synovus BankColumbus, Georgia-based financial services holding company Synovus will cut 650 jobs, or 9% of its workforce, over the next two years. One hundred and twenty jobs will be lost in metro Atlanta.

Hiring has been frozen since April, and half the cuts will come through attrition. The firm employs 7,100.

Synovus is a financial services holding company with more than $35 billion in assets, based in Columbus, Georgia. Synovus provides commercial and retail banking, as well as investment services, to customers through 30 banks, 440 ATMs, and more than 330 Synovus offices in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida and Tennessee.
