New Biogreen Plant to Generate Power, Jobs in Oregon

biogreensustainableenergy_1St. Helens, Oregon’s Biogreen Sustainable Energy is constructing a biomass power plant in La Pine. Upon completion in 18 months, the facility will employ 20; and an additional 90 new indirect jobs are expected.

The plant will produce almost 20 megawatts of electricity using biomass fuels, such as slash piles, forest undergrowth and wood construction materials.

La Pine is a city in Deschutes County, Oregon, incorporated on December 7, 2006. La Pine is part of the Bend Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 5,799 at the 2000 census. It is in an isolated area of Central Oregon, consisting of a loose collection of homes and businesses along Highway 97 about 30 miles southeast of Bend.
