Stockton, CA to Lay Off 55 Cops, 35 Others

StocktonThe City of Stockton, California is laying off 55 police officers and 35 civilian employees, effective June 30th.

The city will also stop trimming trees, cancel 4th of July fireworks, and close or limit hours at city facilities.

Thirteen police officers and 18 civilian police employees have signed up for voluntary retirement packages, helping to reduce the number of involuntary layoffs.
