North Carolina’s Guilford County Cuts 223 School Jobs

Guilford County SchoolsNorth Carolina’s Guilford County is cutting 223 jobs from its school district, bringing the overall total of educators laid off to 375. Other workers resigned, retired or were on short-term contracts.

The school district has rehired 54 employees, and may be able to move another 161 to new positions.

Guilford County Schools is the third largest school district in North Carolina. It serves 70,500 students in Greensboro and High Point.
