Dupont to Cut 32 New York State Jobs

DupontChemical maker DuPont will cut 32 New York workers; 20 in Niagara Falls and 12 in Tonawanda, as part of 2,000 jobs cuts across its workforce.

Those laid off in this round include salaried employees and contractors. The New York layoffs will be complete by June 30th, and severance packages will be offered.

The Niagara Falls plant employs 220; the Tonawanda facility has 660 people.

In the last year, DuPont has cut 4,500 jobs and laid off 10,000 contract workers.

E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company is an American chemical company founded in July 1802 as a gunpowder mill by Eleuthère Irénée du Pont. Wilmington, Delaware-based DuPont is currently the world’s second largest chemical company.
