Mount Vernon Mills in Williamston, South Carolina will close its plant in June, streeting 145 workers.
Williamston officials say the town’s revenue will be cut 8% by the closure.
Mount Vernon Mills is a manufacturer of textile and related products for the apparel, industrial, institutional, and commercial markets. Products include denim; flame retardant fabrics for apparel; table linens and other hospitality products; textile sizing and finishing chemicals; paint roller fabrics, automotive fabrics; and synthetic pine straw.
Headquartered in Mauldin, South Carolina, Mount Vernon has about 3,600 employees and operates 14 production facilities in South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi and Texas.
