A wind turbine assembly plant opening this year in Oakland County, Michigan will hire 250 manufacturing workers.
Novi-based Global Wind Systems will begin hiring skilled assembly workers for the state’s first maker of delivery-ready, large-scale turbines. The 74-ton turbines will be used by utility companies and wind farm developers for generating power.
The company received $7.3 million in tax credits from the Michigan Economic Growth Authority to create 256 jobs in six years.
Global Wind has received several thousand resumes, and more than 90% list automotive experience.
