Indianapolis Public Schools Cut 300 Teachers

IPSThe Indianapolis, Indiana Public School Board has voted to cut 300 teachers and non-teaching positions. The District cut eight schools in 2008, and will shutter six more this year.

The IPS, which has 34,000 students and 2,400 teachers at 80 schools, will use federal stimulus money to keep 200 of the laid-off teachers as fill-ins or substitutes.
