Cincinnati’s Convergys will eliminate 275 jobs at its call center in Winnipeg, Manitoba — but will open three new call centers in the Philippines.
The jobs were eliminated because the company lost a customer service contract. Convergys employs about 1,000 at the center, one of 13 it operates in Canada.
In the Philippines, Convergys will open three new call centers April 1st, creating 2,900 jobs.
Convergys provides customer care, human resources and billing services worldwide.
